Khartes featured on new CD

A section of Khartes, a 50-minute composition, is featured on The NYFA Collection, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Artist’s Fellowship Program of the New York Foundation for the Arts.

The follow-up to 2010’s critically acclaimed NYFA CollectionThe NYFA Collection: Volume Two collects works by the 2013 Music and Sound Fellows and presents a staggeringly broad swath of sonic territory: Fellini-esque circus music, a meditation on the exile of immigration status, guitar stabs and accordion solos, abstract jazz and new music piano, pop references, odes to molars and a bad storm, are just some of the paths explored by this diverse group of artists.

Khartes 4 is the opening piece on the CD, and the music features musicians from the Buenos Aires and the New York music scenes. Performers are Elliott Sharp (Electric Guitar), Daniel Binelli (Bandoneon), Carl Maguire (Fender Rhodes), Andrew Drury (Drums), and Laura Andel (Composition & Conducting).

All ten composers featured on the CD are: Laura Andel, Sylvie Courvoisier, Frank Carlberg, John Bacon, Mihoko Suzuki, Ben Gerstein, Judith Sloan, Svjetlana Bukvich, Anthony Gatto, Yotam Haber.
