Sao Dao at The Massachusetts Cultural Council

The Massachussets Cultural Council (MCC) is celebrating the 40 Years of Fellowships. In 1975, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts awarded its first Artist Fellowships for excellence, and this year marks the 40th anniversary of those initial state-funded grants to artists.

As a 1999 MCC Artist Fellow, I am excited that Sao Dao has been selected for the opening title for each of their celebration videos featuring interviews with awardees from those 40 years.

Sao Dao was premiered by the Laura Andel Jazz Orchestra in Boston in 1997.

The Massachusetts Cultural Council is celebrating the 40-Year of their Artist Fellowships Program, exploring the stories of amazing artists they have funded since 1975. Interviews feature photographer Rania Matar, playwright Melinda Lopez, choreographers Diane Arvanites and Tommy Neblett, sculptor Niho Kozuru, composer Lewis Spratlan, filmmaker Alexandra Anthony, and many more!
